Metabolic balance is one of the few weight loss programmes that allows you to eat delicious healthy, balanced, all natural foods and this is important during the Christmas period. When everybody else is tucking in to those naughty foods, you don’t want to be sitting there with a lettuce leaf, a stick of celery and a grape for your Christmas dinner.
We often put off diets and healthy eating programmes until after Christmas because we convince ourselves that we’ll never make it through the season without falling off our diet but the MB plan is like no other diet. It’s specially built around you and what your body needs, which is ascertained from blood tests and it’s geared to righting hormonal balances that can result in cravings for all the wrong foods, fatigue and weight gain.
Here’s a lovely idea for Christmas dinner that keeps you on your Metabolic Balance diet.
Ingredients
Turkey crown/breast or pheasant for roasting
Parsnips
Red Cabbage
Half the quantity of chopped apples to red cabbage
Salt
Pepper
Garlic
Nutmeg, good pinch
Cinnamon ½ teaspoon
Cook your roast Turkey as you normally would or ring the changes with roast pheasant. Cook your Christmas roast parsnips in coconut oil and salt in the oven, just as you would those roast potatoes you normally have. For the vegetables, all you need to do is braise some red cabbage, with chopped apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, garlic and red wine vinegar. Just mix all the ingredients together, using 2 small apples per whole red cabbage (enough for four people), a ½ flat teaspoon of cinnamon, a good pinch of nutmeg and a large clove of garlic, salt and black pepper and about 10 fl oz of red wine vinegar. Put it all in a good size heavy lidded pan and cook on a low heat for about and hour or so, making sure it doesn’t get dry.
With this recipe you can stick to your Metabolic Diet programme and still enjoy a lovely Christmas dinner. Look out for our healthy mince pie recipe too.
